Please note: We sold our PHEV in 2020 but we’re keeping the information here for people who are interested.
December 20, 2015: After a year and a half of living in the Greeny Flat we’ve managed to export more than three and a half times as much power to the grid as we have imported from it. So we’ve been thinking a lot about how to best use all that excess energy. The obvious answer was to get an electric vehicle (EV) that we can charge during the day from our solar panels. This should allow us to do a good portion of our driving powered by renewable energy and take us another step closer to being fossil fuel free.
After looking at all the available options for EV’s we finally settled on a Demo model of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. We’ve been writing a lot about EV’s in our Newsletters over the last year or so and will continue to chronicle our experience with the new PHEV as we learn to live with it. If you’re interested, you can subscribe to the Newsletter by filling out the form on the RHS of the page. Meanwhile, here are links to some of the articles we have written so far.
